Lady Irwin College, New Delhi was established in 1932 as a college for women. Lady Irwin College was established under the patronage of Lady Dorothy Irwin, by men and women concerned with national issues and the education of women. The LIC college has been an exemplar for over 200 colleges and schools offering the discipline of Home Science in India, providing guidance in development of syllabuses, courses and infrastructure. The LIC is a constituent college for women, in University of Delhi.
Lady Irwin College is affiliated to University of Delhi, for undergraduate, postgraduate and supports doctoral programs in five areas of Home Science. The aims of college for holistic development of girl's students, and their capacity building through wisely designed academic programs and extracurricular activities.
Lady Irwin College, New Delhi offers various courses such as B.Sc. in Home Science, B.Sc. (Honours) in Home Science, Master’s degrees in five areas (Food and Nutrition, Fabric and Apparel Science, Development Communication and Extension, Human Development and Childhood Studies, and Resource Management and Design Application). The college also offered Post Graduate Diploma in Dietetics and Public Health Nutrition, B.Ed. and Special Education (MR).
